Joan Kelley Walker[edit]

Joan Kelley Walker (née Weisshaar)[1] is a Canadian reality television personality, socialite, philanthropist and fashion designer. She is one of the main cast members of the first season of The Real Housewives of Toronto that airs on Slice.[2] The reality series is the second Canadian spin-off of the popular Bravo Real Housewives franchise. It follows the lives of six prominent women living in Toronto and aired 10 episodes from March 7, 2016 to May 9, 2017.[3] After the first season the show was placed into hiatus until 2018.[4]

Career[edit]

Walker’s career spans TV hosting, modelling and brand spokesperson.[5] [6] For more 18 years she has been involved in charitable and philanthropic endeavours through her participation with the World Vision Canada ‘Starting Strong’ program.[6] Walker has also been involved in HIV/AIDS education and prevention via her work with World Vision.[6] She is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for her charitable efforts.[5] [7] In 2018, Walker announced her foray into retail and plans to introduce her own affordable, yet fashionable, lifestyle brand. She further announced her new brand would give back to charitable causes.[5]

Personal life[edit]

Walker was raised in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, and resides in King City, Ontario. She has been married to Magna international CEO, Donald (Don) J. Walker since 2000 and together they share two children and two step children from her husband’s previous marriage.[7][8]
