Joanna Chilcoat Fellows (born October 31, 1985), is an American film actress and theater actress from Catonsville, Maryland.[1]

Joanna Chilcoat Fellows is most known for her performance in Camp (2003), where she portrayed the character Ellen. The movie wasn't well received by many, yet gained a cult following by many teens in musical theatre.[2]

In 2007, she was once again in a movie, this time in an ensemble role. Since her appearance in New York City Serenade, she has not appeared in any major films.[1]

After acting[edit]

Schooling[edit]

After filming the movie Camp, Fellows went on to study theatre at the University of Maryland, College Park.[3] She eventually continued her schooling at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), in which she graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.[4]

Teaching[edit]

After getting her Masters, she went on to work within the Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland) school district, teaching theatre classes, media-based classes, as well as film studies.[5] Along with teaching multiple in-school theatre classes, Fellows also does the after-school theatre program.[6]

Activism[edit]

Following the announcement that a key fine arts position within Montgomery County Public school system was to be drastically reduced, Fellows took to the Board of Education in order to persuade them to keep the position.[7] Noting the immense popularity of Hamilton (musical), she took the hip-hop style and changed the lyrics to fight for the fine arts administration position to remain.[8] With students and fellow colleagues also attending the Board of Education meeting to support her, videos emerged on Facebook, causing various news outlets to take notice. In the end, Fellows' rap was successful in keeping the fine arts administration position. [9]
