Joanna Kathryn Swash (born 9 October 1972) is a British businesswoman[1],[2] keynote speaker[3], and political adviser. She is the CEO of Wrexham-based Moneypenny, a company she joined as the first salesperson in 2005[4]. In 2021 she was appointed to the Prime Minister's Business Council[5], where she advises the government on building skills resilience for the benefit of both education and business.
Early Life[edit]
Swash was born in Wrexham in 1972. She was educated at Allan School Comprehensive in Mold, Flintshire.
Career[edit]
Swash[6] joined Moneypenny, a global provider of outsourced communications, in 2005, taking the position of CEO in 2018. She oversaw the company's entry into the US market, securing private equity investment by ECI Partners and finalizing the acquisition of VoiceNation, NinjaNumber and Alphapage [7]in the US.
As of 2023, Moneypenny operates in the UK and US, handling communications for companies of all sizes, worldwide. The company has a UK headquarters in Wrexham and US offices in Duluth and employs more than 1,000 people across the UK and USA.
As a leading businesswoman, Swash offers support and guidance to businesses as part of mentoring role with Be the Business a UK Government-backed not-for-profit organisation providing free mentors and support to SMEs.
Moneypenny played a key role in the Wrexham UK City of Culture 2025[8] bid,[9] narrowly missing out to Bradford. She is interim-chair of the committee planning to apply for the 2029 title.

Swash is a regular speaker at both CBI and IOD events.
She is a regular contributor to the management press as a thought leader, regularly writing in both the UK and US national press, Forbes[10][11] and other leading titles Association of MBAs and appearing on BBC[12] Breakfast news channels as well as Times Radio and BBC Radio 5 Live Wake Up to Money. She has been interviewed for The Times, FT Headspring[13] and Market Research Society and is a nationwide judge for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2022.
In 2023 Swash became a part of the interview team for The Nowhere Office, alongside Julia Hobsbawm OBE and business speaker/writer Stefan Stern

Swash is regularly asked to comment on leadership and the people-based business model for which Moneypenny has been listed in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For for over 12 years.[14][15] The UK and Atlanta offices have also been acredited Great Place to Work.[16][17][18]

Swash has two children, is an amateur horsewoman and lives in Wrexham.
