Joe Helle is the Mayor of Oak Harbor, Ohio.[1] In 2015, Helle was elected Mayor of Oak Harbor with 58% of the vote.[2]
Following his graduation from Oak Harbor High School, Helle enlisted in the United States Army. He served as an Airborne Infantryman from 2006-2011, including a deployment to Iraq from 2006-2007 for Operation Iraqi Freedom and a deployment to Afghanistan in 2009 for Operation Enduring Freedom. Since his honorable discharge in 2011, Helle has served as a paramedic and a police officer.[3] Most recently, Helle started a small business, the Oak N' Harbor Distillery, with his wife in Oak Harbor.[4]
Helle serves as a Trustee for the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments, also serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Ohio Mayors and Managers Association.[5] [6]
