Joe Joseph is a British veteran, local politician and shepherd. He was recently selected as the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for the new Wells and Mendip Hills constituency in the 2024 General Election.[3]

Early life and career[edit]

Joseph, originally from Sussex, served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1979 to 2004, reaching the rank of Squadron Leader. His military service includes participation in the Falklands War and the Iraq War.[2]

After his military career, Joseph focused on agriculture and environmental education, breeding sheep and providing environmental training since 2004. He also lectured on countryside and environmental management.[4]

Politics[edit]

Joseph has been a councillor for the St Cuthbert Out Parish Council since June 2022, representing the West Ward. His political work focuses on advocating for rural communities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.[5]

In May 2024, Joseph was announced as the Labour and Co-operative candidate for the newly formed Wells and Mendip Hills constituency.[6]
