Filiatrault plays for Skills FC and has played for FC Minneapolis and Turbo Football Club competing in the United Premier Soccer League. He made his semiprofessional debut for FC Minneapolis in 2023. [7] He has had trials with both Minnesota United 2 of the MLS Next Pro and Boca Raton FC of the National Premier Soccer League. Spent one season as a reserve for Duluth FC and one season with Club The Strongest Atlanta an Bolivian American pro development soccer team.

Joel was born in Miami Florida, to an American mother and Cuban father. In addition to playing, Joel both referees and coaches soccer to give back to the game. In his free time Joel enjoys spending time with friends, family, church, and his joy in playing golf. He married partner Tiffany (Funk) Filiatrault in December 2025 and the two are praying for a family one day.
