Joel Velasco
Joel Velasco is a Principal of Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG). He helps lead the firm’s Latin America practice.[1]
Velasco is a member of the Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson Center.[2]
He served as a Managing Director at Stonebridge International from 2001 to 2008.[3]
Velasco was Senior Vice President at biotechnology firm Amyris. He also worked as the Chief Representative in North America for the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association. Previously, he was the Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil in Brasilia.[4]
During the Clinton administration, he served as a personal aide to Vice President Al Gore.[2]
Velasco received his B.A. in Political Science from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. He received his M.A. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.[3]
