Johar Abu Lashin (born April 05, 1971) is an Israeli former professional boxer. He is known as the first Israeli to win a world championship[1] and was described in 2001 as "Israel's most successful boxer".[2]
Personal life[edit]
Lashin was born in Nazareth, Israel. [3] He is an Arab Christian.[4]
He moved to Tennessee in the United States. There he married Debbie Gouge. He and his wife bought a horse farm in Tennessee.[5] He has two children, is a naturalized U.S. citizen, and has a birthday of April 4, according to his Facebook page.
Professional career[edit]
Lashin was
- World Boxing Federation (WBF) lightweight champion 1992[6]
- International Boxing Organization (IBO) champion 1997[citation needed]
- International Boxing Council (IBC) welterweight champion 1998[7]
In May 1999 he won the IBC title fight at Nazareth, Israel.[citation needed]
