John H. Bellaire is a member of the School Committee of Winchester, Massachusetts, as well as a member of its Town Meeting representing Precinct 2. He was sworn in in April 2026.

Early life

John Henry Bellaire was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on January 7th, 2004. He attended Muraco Elementary School, McCall Middle School, and Winchester High School, where he developed a dream to give back to the public school system.[1] In 2025, Bellaire graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Education Studies.[2] For his senior thesis, "For the Proper Education of the Child? – The Effects of School Corporal Punishment Policies on Student Behavior," Bellaire partnered with the Arkansas Department of Education and utilized state-level data to analyze the impact that corporal punishment had on students in public schools in Arkansas.[3]

Career

Bellaire has been an analyst at Bellwether since August 2025.[4]

Elections

In January 2026, Bellaire announced that he was running for a seat on Winchester's School Committee.[5] He ran on a platform for bringing policy expertise, research skills, and personal experiences to the School Committee as an education researcher and experienced youth mentor.[2] He also announced that he was running for a seat in Winchester's Town Meeting.[5]

In the March 21st town-wide election, Bellaire beat fellow Democratic candidate Heather K. R. Von Mering by an eight percent margin, or by approximately 330 votes, for the School Committee. He also won his election to Town Meeting, being elected to represent Winchester's second precinct.[6]
