John Bevere
John Bevere is an American minister and best-selling author. He is the co-founder of Messenger International, a non-profit that translates and distributes Christian teaching into over 128 languages.[1].
Early life and education
John was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He spent part of his childhood living overseas in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, before his family settled down in Whitehall, Michigan. He attended Purdue University on a tennis scholarship, where he played doubles[2]. He graduated from Purdue with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. While attending college, he met his wife Lisa Bevere (Toscano) in June of 1981. They were married on October 2, 1982. After graduating, John took an engineering job with Rockwell International.[3]
Ministry and career
In June of 1983, John left his job at Rockwell International to pursue a career in ministry. He began working at a church as a pastor’s assistant and a youth pastor.[4] In 1991, John wrote his first book, Victory in the Wilderness[5]. His second book, The Bait of Satan[6], went on to become an international best-seller, with over one million copies sold[7]. In total, he’s written over 20 books, including the USA Today bestseller Killing Kryptonite[8]
Personal life
John currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife and enjoys playing golf with his sons in his spare time.
