John Ehiguese
John Eboseyi Ehiguese (born 1960) is a Nigerian public relations professional[1][2][3][4][5] who was President of Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), the body of PR professionals in Nigeria[6][7][8][9]. Ehiguese currently sits on the Board of Management of International Communications Consultants Organization (ICCO).[10][11] In 2019, Ehiguese was named best Public Relations Practitioner of the year.
Early life and education
Ehiguese was born in Edo State, south-south Nigeria.[12][13]
Career
Ehiguese’s early career was in marketing, sales, advertising and broadcasting. His Public Relations career started at Corporate & Financial Communications, a PR firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. [13] He was Account Director at C&F Porter Novelli, in charge of the MTN Nigeria business. In 2002, Ehiguese was a Communications Consultant at the Johns Hopkins University Centre for Communication Programme (JHU-CCP).[1][11]
PRCAN presidency
Ehiguese was a two-term President of Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN).[14] In April 2016, Ehiguese led the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, PRCAN, in a collaborative campaign with Brand South Africa[15][16] in improving the external image of Nigeria. Ehiguese said at the launch of the campaign: “We suffer from a negative perception externally. The image of Nigeria out there is not what it should be. It is not that Nigeria is as bad as it is often portrayed, but that is the perception generally”.[17][18]
In October 2016, Ehiguese was a member of the panel of judges of ICCO Global Award 2016; the global showcase for the most effective PR from the world’s most talented practitioners.[19]
Award
Ehiguese was named Nigeria’s Best Public Relations Practitioner of the Year (2019) alongside Mediacraft Associates.[20][21][22]
