John H. Rex
John H. Rex is a physician and a drug developer. He is currently Chief Medical Officer at F2G, Ltd, Editor-In-Chief at AMR.Solutions, and Operating Partner at Advent Life Sciences.[1]
Rex was appointed the Chief Medical Officer of F2G, Ltd in December 2016.[2]
In an article in the Boston Globe, Rex said that “Antibiotics are like fire extinguishers [...] You want to have it available and not use it. But you would be crazy to not have it available. And you can’t wait until you have a fire to buy the fire extinguisher.”.[3]
Rex was appointed the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the AMR Action Fund in July 2021.[4]
In an interview for the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, Rex provided Nabriva Therapeutics's drug lefamulin as an example of an antibiotic that could not generate enough sales several years after receiving approval for medical use in the USA and EU.[5] Nabriva Therapeutics terminated all employees and began to seek a buyer for lefamulin in January 2023.[6]
Rex participated in the "Will Fungi Be The Last of Us?" panel at SXSW 2024.[7]
