John Laser M. Martinez (born June 07, 1991), better known as JL Martin , is an author and a filipino pageant winner who was crowned Mister Continental Tourism 2018/19 on November 24, 2018 during the finals night of the international Mister United Continents 2018. [1] [2] He gained the right to represent his country by winning the Mister United Continents Philippines 2018 title on October 17, 2018. [3] JL Martin first appeared in the national Mister Earth Philippines 2015 and was crowned Mister Earth Philippines 2015 - Water on September 26, 2015.[4][5]
Personal Life and Education[edit]
Martinez studied Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus (UC-Banilad) and passed the Nursing Licensure Examination in July 2011. He finished his degree in Master of Business Administration at Southwestern University-Phinma (SWU) in May 2015 where he placed 1st in the Comprehensive Examination with the average rating of 93.50%. He also finished his degree in Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management at Cebu Technological University-Main Campus (CTU) in December 2021. Currently, Martinez is studying Doctor of Business Administration at the University of Cebu (UC) while working for the National Government. [6]

Martinez was featured front page in an international mens magazine based in Dubai called Cool Magazine published in November 2020 where he was tagged in an interview by the Fashion Insider as The Pageant King.
National[edit]
Martinez participated in the major fashion and runway events in the country wearing the local brands and creations of the local designers such as Jun Bher Larroder, Edwin Alba, Protacio Empaces and many more. He also had shots taken by Signed Creatives Studio by Melf Temblor, Nico Liu Photography, Jonas Yu, and etc. He also appeared in different local papers and magazines.

Martinez was crowned Mister Earth Philippines 2015 - Water on September 26, 2015 in a simple final judgment night held at the Clubhouse of Mayfield Park Residences. He represented the province of Cebu in the said national pageant. [7][8]

Mister United Continents Philippines 2018[edit]
Martinez was crowned Mister United Continents Philippines 2018 on October 17, 2018. Martinez submitted his application to join the pageant and in the selection process the top 8 contestants was chosen. Martinez was the selected winner and gained the right to represent the country Philippines in the international pageant. [9]
Mister United Continents 2018[edit]
Martinez represented the Philippines in the international stage where he advanced to top 8 and crowned as the first Mister Continental Tourism 2018/19 on November 24, 2018 in a grand coronation night at JCenter Convention Hall in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines. [10] [11]

Mister United Continents 2018 (Dethronement)[edit]
Mister United Continents Inc. regrets to inform the public that Mr. Eisa Hider Alfake of Sudan’s time in power as Mister United Continents 2018 is terminated immediately. The decision of Mister United Continents international male pageant organization is not reversible. Mr. Alfake has shown misconduct at multiple occasions with the other executives of Mister United Continents Inc. This kind of an irresponsible behavior cannot be tolerated at all. Despite several warnings, he continued to do the same thing. The international male pageant organization even issued him a notice to explain last December, because it has been reported that he has been found to have committed acts of misconducts. Mister United Continents Inc. gave him considerable amount of time to draft his answer and defenses, but his reply did not respond to each allegation—neither admitting or denying each alleged fact, nor stating that he lack information to respond to every alleged fact.
Mr. Alfake’s behavior is not acceptable to Mister United Continents Inc., and it has affected the international male pageant organization’s colleagues and corporate sponsors. He has also been the reason for Mister United Continents Inc. to incur losses, to have to make amends for his unacceptable behavior.
Mister United Continents Inc. has an obligation to adhere to the most exacting standards of masculinity, unity, creativity and integrity. Since he compromised these standards, Mister United Continents Inc. cannot in good faith accede to Mr. Alfake’s continued affiliation with the international male pageant organization.
Hence, the public is informed that any dealings with Mr. Eisa Hider Alfake of Sudan shall be his own and exclusive transaction, and he shall not be recognized as Mister United Continents 2018. Any claim of Mr. Alfake of his title from here on is no longer recognized by Mister United Continents Inc.
The international male pageant organization has created a special panel to determine who will continue Mr. Alfake’s reign. Mister United Continents 2018 runners-up Zoel Ambrosino of the Netherlands (Mister Masculinity), Thailand’s Phichairak Phimonmat (Mister Unity), and Pheong Chanbomey of Cambodia (Mister Creativity) are all eligible to take Mr. Alfake’s place as the new Mister United Continents titleholder.[12]
