Private John Makgotlo MM was a South African soldier during World War II, serving in the Native Military Corps as part of the South African 2nd Infantry Division. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery for his actions recovering wounded from the battlefield during the second battle for Bardia, Libya on 31 December 1941 and again on the night of 1/2 January 1942.[1]
