John Edward Gerard Matze Jr. is an American computer scientist, and software developer. He is most notably known for his work as CEO & Founder of Parler, a right-wing social media platform founded in August 2018.

Early life & education[edit]

Matze lives in Henderson, Nevada. He studied computer science & business at University of Denver, and in his early years went to Poway High School, in Poway, California. Matze began his work as a Junior Web Developer at Alere Inc.(now Abbott Inc.). Matze then went on to work for General Atomics, programming aeronautical components for GA Special Projects. He then worked for BridgeSTOR as the Lead iOS Developer from 2015 to 2017. Matze furthered his career by working as a Software Engineer at Amazon Web Services. He also worked for CarePICS full time as a Software Manager, and iOS developer. In August of 2018, Matze launched Parler, the right-wing social network. Parler is one multiple right-wing social networks including, Gab, MeWe, and BitChute.

Parler[edit]

In May 2019, Matze said that there were about 100,000 active users on the platform. Parler's user amount more than doubled in June 2019, when more than 200,000 Saudi Arabian nationalists joined the network, getting as many as 1,000 new users every minute.[1]

Parler has multiple notable "influential" figures on the platform including, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul and his son Rand Paul, Laura Loomer, Roger Stone, Mark Dice, Dan Bongino, Paul-Joseph Watson, Alex Jones, General Michael Flynn, Senator Mike Lee, Sheriff David Clarke and Eric Trump.
