John P. Fitzpatrick

John P. Fitzpatrick (photographer) (March 18, 1966 – July 15, 2013) aka Fitz Fitzpatrick was an award-winning travel[1] and extreme sports photographer[2] from Short Hills, New Jersey and was noted for his photographs[3] of the Cortes Bank. He was one of the first photographers to catch the giant waves (located in the Cortes Bank) on film, and, he went on to provide photos of the Cortes Bank waves with writer Ian Cook in their collaboration "Where The REALLY Big Waves Live".[4] His photographs[5] maybe seen in a variety of periodicals[6] and in books[7] and he was also a successful fashion and outdoors[8] photographer. After graduating college he moved to Massachusetts[9] to become a wedding photographer. In 2009 he moved New York City and opened his photography studio there.[10]

Fitzpatrick died on July 15, 2013[11] at the age of 47. He never married and he had no known children.
