John Richard Martin

Professor John Richard Martin (1897-1965) was a notable physics professor at Case college. He was instrumental in developing sonar and radar for the military, created a noise meter and coined the term decibel. He built one of the first televisions and the first in Cleveland, Oho by using disk scanners. He pinpointed the usefulness of cable in the classroom. He worked with the renowned, Dayton C Miller. He worked at Case college from 1920 until his death in 1965.
