John Vaus

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

John Vaus was alderman (the term used before provost) of Aberdeen for five separate spells between 1420 and 1445 (1420, 1425, 1428–30, 1436, 1444-5).[1]

In 1430 Aberdeen had a new seal made, on the back of which an inscription stated that John Vaus was alderman.[2]

In 1447, after his last term in office, Vaus seems to have been recognised for his services with a reward of fishing rights, although in the same year he found himself in trouble for disturbing the baillie court. By 1448 he had died.[3]
