John Watson was the Interim State Auditor for Missouri from February 2015 to May 2015, after being appointed by Governor Jay Nixon,[1] following the death of State Auditor Thomas Schweich.[2] After Jay Nixon appointed Nicole Galloway[3] for the remainder of Schweich's term, John Watson was no longer the Auditor of Missouri.
Education[edit]
Watson earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.[1]
Career[edit]
At the time of his appointment as auditor, Watson was senior advisor to Nixon and chief of staff from January 2009 until December 2014. Watson was also chief of staff to Nixon (when he was attorney general) from 1997 until his election as governor.[1]
Watson also had been the executive director at MOSERS from September 2015 until January 2018.[4]
