John Webb is a broadcast journalist in North Idaho who anchors newscasts for Pullman Radio News and Silver Valley News. Webb previously served as a news anchor and managing editor for KWAL and Channel 3 News.
Career
Webb began his broadcasting career in the summer of 2016. He received an internship at KWAL and his broadcast career launched from there. The high school student was hired by the radio station and became their youngest news and weather anchor. During his 3 years at KWAL, Webb launched a local TV broadcast. Working in conjunction with Suddenlink Communications, he launched a community channel at the age of 16. He produced weekly broadcasts, taught Wallace High School students the ropes of broadcast journalism, and oversaw content that aired 24/7.
After graduating high school, Webb attended the University of Idaho, where he currently anchors newscasts for Pullman Radio News. He was the broadcast director for ARGTV, a student-run broadcast. During the summers, he reports for Silver Valley News, a news program that he launched.
Accomplishments
Shortly after launching Channel 3 News, Webb began interviewing Senator Carl Crabtree, bringing his constituents weekly updates from the legislative session. This led him to bring North Idaho the only gubernatorial election coverage, according to Idaho Education News. He interviewed the top 5 primary candidates for the gubernatorial race. During the general election, Webb interviewed candidate, Paulette Jordan, and current Idaho Governor Brad Little. In 2018 Webb broadcasted President Donald Trump's Missoula Rally live on Channel 3. His credentials were approved by the White House even as a 17-year-old.
During his time at Channel 3, Webb was awarded excellence in Broadcast Production three years straight, the Dr. Riggs Leadership Award, and the Silver Valley Volunteer of the Year award.
At ARGTV, Webb scored the first TV interview with newly hired University of Idaho President, Scott Green. He aired a special on their $22 million deficit.
