John Wood is an American attorney. He is currently serving as Senior Investigative Counsel and Of Counsel to Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney on the US House of Representatives Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol..[1]
Wood has served in the various capacities in the federal government throughout his career. He was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri by President George W. Bush in 2007. Prior to his appointment, he held several senior roles in the Bush Administration's as Chief of Staff at the Department of Homeland Security, Deputy Associate General Counsel and counselor to Attorney General John Ashcroft at the Department of Justice, and as Deputy General Counsel at the Office of Management and Budget[2]
In the federal judiciary, Wood was a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Judge J. Michael Luttig.
Wood is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Harvard Law School.
