John Yates (Culadasa)

John Yates is a former professor of neuroscience, a teacher of Buddhist meditation under the name Upasaka Culadasa, and a proprietor with his wife of a well-known bed and breakfast, Cochise Stronghold[1].

Academic career[edit]

John Yates authored A physician's guide to therapeutic massage, based on his research and which has had some uptake in the scientific literature of alternative healthcare.

Meditation teacher[edit]

Culadasa is a popular teacher of meditation, founder of the Dharma Treasure Buddhist Sangha in Tucson, Arizona, and author of the book The Mind Illuminated which attempts of inform traditional Buddhist meditation practices by modern neuroscientific concepts.

Cochise Stronghold[edit]

With his wife he is proprietor of Cochise Stronghold, which is variously described as a bed and breakfast and a nature retreat.
