John Masters is an American Police Officer of both American and Canadian descent. He published the 2024 book Blue Line Rogue: Corruption in Georgia[1], after witnessing corruption among police officers in the U.S. State of Georgia where he was employed as a police officer. He is self-described as anti-corruption, and has admitted to being a member of the Democratic Party, as well as associated with the Modern Whig Party. He has stated in multiple interviews that he is no longer politically active, and not affiliated with any political party.

Early Life

Masters has been asked in interviews about his early life, and he has been quite candid. Masters claims he was raised by a mixed family of British, Canadian, and Americans[2]. He is reportedly able to speak conversational French, and in interviews with non-US based journalists he has used international and British common terms over American euphemisms quite easily, as well as referencing French language terms with ease[3]. He was born in the United States, to parents who served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and Cold War era[2]. He has stated that his parents both insisted he take foreign language classes as well as one year of Latin[2][3]. Masters has stated that his family has both protestant and catholic family members[2].

Career

Masters enlisted into the United States Army on 02 November 2005 as a Motor Transport Operator. He volunteered to deploy to Iraq in October 2006 through December 2007, and Afghanistan from February 2009 to March 2010 as a member of F Company, 3rd Battalion/ 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment[4][1][5][6][7][8]. His publicly accessible LinkedIn profile shows that at some time during 2010, he cross trained into Supply and Logistics and was partially responsible for a property book.

During an interview in 2024, Masters stated that he had attended the University of Alaska Anchorage as a degree-seeking undergraduate student after leaving the military, but did not state if he was alumni or not[5][6]. He is visible in the interview wearing a University of Alaska Anchorage jumper. In August of 2018, he joined the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office and began a career in law enforcement in the state of Georgia. He has publicly stated that the economic stability of the state attracted him to leave Alaska and move to Georgia. According to his first book, Blue Line Rogue, during his time in law enforcement in Georgia he has worked in some capacity for the following agencies[3][1]:

  • Dougherty County Sheriff's Office
  • Poulan Police Department
  • Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office
  • Hartwell Police Department

He worked various duties and positions during his tenure in law enforcement, until he published his first book[1][9]. Documented death threats were aired on multiple podcasts[1][7][8] from other police officers who were named and exposed in the book showcasing corruption at the Poulan Police Department (where Masters had previously worked as a police officer); and other agencies and state officials who were involved in the corruption[9][4].

Personal Life

Masters has self admitted that he was baptised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints[2], and that he has a deep theological interest in both LDS Church history and other religions' that document supposed LDS events in ancient times[2]. He has also stated that the majority of his family is either protestant or catholic[2][4].

He is an avid reader, and (according to his public social media profiles) engages his own audience to read other books besides his own[10][11]. According to his Goodreads profile, one of his favourite authors is Timothy Zahn. During one interview in the UK[3], Masters admitted that he played video games and Magic: The Gathering. He is published both academically and professionally[1][12][13][14][15]. In his first professionally published book, he admits to living in Alaska and Georgia longer than any other place he has been a resident of (including Utah, Arizona, and parts of the Midwest of the United States).

Masters has admitted to being a progressive[5][3][1]. In interviews he has admitted to being previously politically active as a registered Democrat and that he was associated with the Modern Whig Party for a small period of time. Masters has stated that during his time in University post-military, he ceased being politically active and became unaffiliated from any political party in the United States[2][3][9]. He has not publicly stated who he has voted for in past elections, even when asked during interviews. He has described himself as a centrist, with both progressive and libertarian views. In his first published book Blue Line Rogue, Masters admitted that he maintains a constructionist view of The Constitution of the United States of America, and sees it as a legal document rather than an ideological living document[1][4].
