From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Jonathan Simon Douglas (born 4th April 1970) commonly known as 'Johnny Douglas' is a British record producer, songwriter, composer, remixer, turntablist and DJ. To date he has sold 69 million records internationally in the pop, soul & urban genres and worked with artists such as George Michael, Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Gabrielle, All Saints, Chris Brown, Gary Barlow, Boyzone, 911, and Liberty X, among other.[citation needed]

Early life[edit]

Douglas was born ‘Jonathan Simon Douglas’ on 4 April, 1970 in Hull, England to parents Lesley Douglas & John Douglas.

Career[edit]

1989-1996

In 1989, Douglas was offered a record deal with EMI as an artist. Shortly after Douglas got a got a job playing and writing music for Ian Levine which lead to Douglas playing piano on the single “A Million Love Songs” by Take That which was released in fall of 1992.

Douglas was later signed as an artist to XL talent by Ian Wright and was said “to be the next George Michael.”

In 1991, Douglas was again signed but this time to Rondor Music publishing as a writer. Through Rondor, Douglas met fellow writer, Rod Temperton, who wrote many of the hits for Michael Jackson. Temperton became a mentor to Douglas through the early part of his career.

In 1993 Douglas teamed up with UK R&B singer Gabrielle and produced and wrote three songs on her debut album 'Find Your Way; 'I Wish', We Don’t Talk and the title track Find Your Way. Douglas also started working with R&B girl group Eternal, pop singer Louise and American soul singer Judy Cheeks.

Douglas collaborated with Lisa Moorish, who he help to get signed to Go Discs. Douglas was credited as producer on Moorish’s debut album I’ve Got To Have it All. This album resulted in 3 Top 40 singles I’m Your Man (UK peak position #24) , Mr Friday Night (UK peak position #24) and Love For Life (UK peak position #37)

George Michael

In 1996 George Michael invited Douglas to produce tracks for him on the “Older” album by George Michael. The pair went on to write and produce many songs together on the album including “Spinning the Wheel”, “Older” and Fast Love. This album charted and earned Douglas his first UK Number 1 single with 'Fast Love'.

Douglas continued to work with Michael and in 1997 Douglas produced and remixed the single “The Strangest Thing ’97. Douglas also produced an additional remix was made of the called The Strangest Thing Loops Ratz Mix and appeared on the single for the Strangest Thing ’97.

Additional songs which Douglas worked on with Michael include 'Everything She wants’ 97, I’m your man’ 96, Star people ’97 and Outside.

In 2000 Douglas, recorded remixed and programmed “If I told you that” which was a duet between George Michael and Whitney Houston which appears on Houtson’s The Greatest Hits Album.

2004 saw Douglas and Michael team up again for Michaels’ Patience album. Douglas is credited for Production, Drum Programming, keyboards and wrote the songs “amazing’ and “Shoot the Dog”

George Michael was known for producing his own records, so Douglas was the only other producer Michael ever collaborated with. Douglas and Michael maintained a close working relationship and friendship until Michaels death on 25 December, 2016.

1997-1999

Douglas left Rondor Music publishing and signed with Warner Chappell for 1.8 million pounds.

In 1998, Douglas released two E.P.s under the name Wax Assassins, Waxadelica/Rocking 2 Da Rhythm and Scratch N Sniff.

During these years, Douglas produced, wrote and remixed with many notable artists and groups including Kylie Minogue, Boyzone, All Saints, 911, Tom Jones, Gary Barlow, and Tina Turner.
