Johnny Franck (born June 8, 1990) is an American singer, musician, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter. He is most well known as the lead vocalist of Indie-Pop band Bilmuri, as well as the former clean vocalist and rhythm guitarist of metalcore bands Attack Attack! (American band) and The March Ahead.
Music Career[edit]
Attack Attack! (2007–2010)[edit]
In 2007, Franck became the rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist for Attack Attack!, an American metalcore band from Columbus, Ohio, formed in 2007. Attack Attack! was formed around 2006 when Franck, Andrew Whiting, Nick White and Andrew Wetzel met Austin Carlile while playing in local high school bands.[1] In 2007, the band entered a local studio where they recorded material that was put up on Myspace to promote their music. Caleb Shomo joined the band in 2008 as the keyboardist, and they changed the name to Attack Attack! In 2008, they signed to Rise Records and released their debut album Someday Came Suddenly on November 11. It peaked on the Billboard 200 at number 193.[2]
Departure from Attack Attack![edit]
On November 10, 2010, Franck announced he had departed from the band to focus on religion[3], as well as starting a new project called The March Ahead. On January 21, 2011 Attack Attack! released the music video for "Smokahontas" featuring Johnny Franck on guitar and clean vocals, despite his departure from the band almost a year earlier. Franck released a self-titled album under The March Ahead in August 2011, as well as B-Sides for the album in January 2012. He then released a series of singles, including several cover songs from popular artists like One Direction[4], Cyndi Lauper, and Justin Bieber.
Bilmuri (2016–Present)[edit]
In 2016, Franck started the one-man Indie-pop band Bilmuri.[5] The name Bilmuri is an abbreviated parody referring to comedian and actor Bill Murray. Bilmuri debuted in 2016 with "Jaguar Shark", "Letters" and a self-titled album, followed by "Frame" and "Banana" in 2017, and "Taco" and "Solid Chub" in 2018. A year later in 2019 he would release "Pasteurized Milk", "Wet Milk" and "Rich Sips", which were well received among his fanbase. Bilmuri gained further attention from former Attack Attack! fans by releasing a single entitled "Thicc Thiccly" featuring former Attack Attack! bandmate and Beartooth vocalist Caleb Shomo, parodying Attack Attack's hit single "Stick Stickly".[6]
