Jon+Torey are a Canadian commercial directing duo consisting of Jonathan Weiman and Torey Kohara. They are known for directing advertising campaigns for brands including Tim Hortons, Infiniti, Google, Samsung, McDonald's and Hyundai. Their work has appeared in industry publications such as Shots, Strategy, Adweek and LBBOnline.[1][2]

Background

Jonathan Weiman and Torey Kohara began working together in Canada, originally directing documentary projects before moving into commercial filmmaking. Their early documentary work includes A Generation After Genocide, which focuses on youth in Rwanda after the 1994 genocide.[3]

Career

Jon+Torey began directing advertising campaigns in the 2010s. Their work has included projects for brands such as Google, Samsung, Budweiser, McDonald's and Toyota.[1] They directed the McDonald's Canada campaign Our Food. Your Questions, which received recognition at The One Show.[4]

In 2019 the duo signed with the U.S. production company Furlined for commercial representation.[2] Their Tim Hortons campaign "The Autograph", involving Wayne Gretzky, received coverage in advertising and Canadian media outlets.[5]

Awards

According to industry sources, Jon+Torey have received awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, The One Show and the Clio Awards for their commercial work.[6]
