Jon Dziadyk is a Canadian urban planner, military officer and author. On October 16, 2017, Dziadyk was elected to the Edmonton City Council to represent Ward 3 in the city's north.[1]
Jon has three online novels published, The Flames of a Potemkin Kingdom, Murder By Pizza, Jimmy Meets Jane Jacobs: The Time Travelling Planner.
Education[edit]
Jon Dziadyk holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Guelph and a Masters in Planning from Dalhousie University. Jon is a member of the Alberta Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Military[edit]
Dziadyk is also an active member of the Naval Reserve and serves as an Intelligence Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Navy.
Municipal Politics[edit]
In 2017, Dziadyk ran for Edmonton City Council in Ward 3, which includes the neighbourhoods of North Edmonton, Lago Lindo, Eaux Claire, and Kilkenney. Dziadyk defeated 4 other candidates for the seat with 29.6% of the vote.[2]
Dziadyk is a strong advocate for creativity and freedom of speech. As a Councillor, he sits on the Urban Planning Committee, the Community Standards and License Appeal Committee and is Co-Chair of the Edmonton Salutes Committee. He is the lead on the Council Literacy Initiative and serves in a secondary role for both the Community Hubs and Northern Relations initiatives.
Dziadyk as a member of the military has made a portion of 97th street to be renamed Canadian Forces Trail.[3]
