Jon Dziadyk is a Canadian urban planner, military officer and author. On October 16, 2017, Dziadyk was elected to the Edmonton City Council to represent Ward 3 in the city's north.[1]

Jon has three online novels published: The Flames of a Potemkin Kingdom, Murder By Pizza, and Jimmy Meets Jane Jacobs: The Time Travelling Planner.

Education

Jon Dziadyk holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Guelph and a Master’s in Planning from Dalhousie University. Jon is a member of the Alberta Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Military

Dziadyk is also an active member of the Naval Reserve and serves as an Intelligence Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Navy.

Municipal Politics

In 2017, Dziadyk ran for Edmonton City Council in Ward 3, which includes the neighbourhoods of North Edmonton, Lago Lindo, Eaux Claire, and Kilkenney. Dziadyk defeated four other candidates for the seat with 29.6% of the vote.[2]

Dziadyk is a strong advocate for creativity and freedom of speech. As a Councillor, he sits on the Urban Planning Committee, the Community Standards and License Appeal Committee and is Co-Chair of the Edmonton Salutes Committee. He is the lead on the Council Literacy Initiative and serves in a secondary role for both the Community Hubs and Northern Relations initiatives.

Dziadyk, as a member of the military, has made a portion of 97th Street to be renamed Canadian Forces Trail.[3]
