Army Lieutenant Colonel Jon S. Jackson (born 1971) is a military trial lawyer in the United States Army Reserve. He is currently[needs update] representing 9/11 suspect Mustafa Ahmed Al-Hawsawi at the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay detention camp.[1] During the arraignment of the 9/11 accused, Jackson accused the alleged mastermind of 9/11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed of intimidating his client.[2] Major Jackson argued for and received a separate hearing for Mr. Al-Hawsawi.[3][4]

Jackson, a former college athlete at the University of Memphis, served on active duty in the Army JAG Corps for several years as both a defense counsel and military prosecutor at military installations around the world, and is a former professor of criminal law, trial advocacy and ethics.[citation needed] Jackson has published many military law articles, and is guest speaker, military trial attorney and military law consultant.[5] Jackson was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in October 2009. He previously served as the lead military counsel for Canadian child soldier Omar Khadr as well as for Majid Khan.[citation needed]
