Jonathan Micheal Shuemaker (Born May 7, 1992) is an American multi-instrumentalist, Composer, and Songwriter based out of Norfolk, Virginia. [1]
Musical Background
Jon started playing music as a drummer. He is primarily self-taught playing guitar, bass, and piano as well. From 2011-2013 he was the drummer for progressive metal band Mind's I. [2] They released an EP produced by members of Born of Osiris. [3] [4] Since 2015, he plays guitar and drums for the band Anoka which encompasses jazz and fusion elements. [5] [6] He is genre-omnivorous and has recorded over 50+ genres of music and possibly more unclassifiable. He has over 200+ releases as a solo artist on his Bandcamp alone. Ranging from over 2000 original songs. All of which are released under his record label Shuemaker Recordings. [7] He continues writing and actively recording still to this day. He also works with experimental and ambient artists nationally and internationally such as Grosso Gadgetto, Black Saturn, Igor Amokian, Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites and many more. [8][9][10] He also worked with American keyboardist Derek Sherinian of Dream Theater fame. [11][12] He has composed multiple music featured by podcasts, news outlets, education institutions, commercials, indie films and video games due to his heavy presence on Free Music Archive. [13]
