Jon Wiederhorn (born September 21) is an American music journalist and author who has covered the world of Heavy Metal Music for nearly 30 years. He is considered to be one of the most important living writers on the topic.[1]

Early life[edit]

Wiederhorn grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC, and attended college at Boston University[2].

Career[edit]

Getting his start as an intern at UK music magazine Melody Maker[3] in 1989, Wiederhorn quickly rose through the ranks of music journalism, eventually writing for Rolling Stone, SPIN, MTV, Guitar World and Revolver [4] among others. Known as one of the foremost voices in Heavy Metal writing today [5], he is the author of 5 books, including the landmark title "Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal" [6]which he co-wrote with Katherine Turman.
