Jonathan Kendrick

Jonathan Kendrick is an entrepreneur from the UK. He is currently the Chairman and Co-Founder of the ROKiT Group, an international organization that includes mobile phone and beverage brands. He began his career with Goodyear in the UK before establishing rights to Yokohoma tires in Europe.

Early Life

Born in Wolverhampton, England, Kendrick was expelled was school when he was 15, but managed to get a job in the accounts department at Goodyear just two years later. He was promoted to assist the sales manager and worked his way up until 1978, when he was sent to South America to look after the Williams Racing Team.

In 1979, after Goodyear closed its UK competition department, Kendrick set up his own business importing tires from Yokohoma to supply to the motorsport industry in Europe. After seeing success from the partnership, he moved into the financial sector and emerging mobile phones market, but in 1998 decided to retire at only 41 years old.

Soon becoming bored with retired life, he embarked on his next venture named ROK, which stood for Return of Kendrick.

ROKiT

Seeing a huge potential for the quickly emerging mobile industry, Kendrick founded ROKiT in the hopes of creating technology to streamline the process of pre-paid vouchers for mobile phones. Kendrick sold ROK’s technology in 2002, but kept the ROKiT brand and relaunched with co-founder, John Paul DeJoria, of Paul Mitchell and Patron Tequila success.

Kendrick and DeJoria created ROKiT in 2018, a telecommunications company offering a selection of reasonably priced mobile phones that featured telemedicine and roadside assistance as well as 3D screens (glasses-free.) They also introduced ROKiT Cities, a mesh networking WiFi service to serve poor communities around the world, beginning with 27 of the biggest cities in India.

Drinks Brands

Kendrick has a portfolio of drinks brands that include ABK Beer and a small-batch, hand-crafted artisan spirits brand called Bogart’s Spirits, created with the Humphrey Bogart estate, and Bandero, a 100% blue agave tequila.

Additional Businesses

Kendrick also owns a record label, comic book company, natural spring water business and holds investments in video game companies, crypto currency, and emerging technology.

Personal Life

Kendrick splits his time mainly between Los Angeles and Albrighton, although his company also has a presence in Mexico, San Jose, Delhi, Bavaria, Brazil, and Japan.
