According to Weiss, the film was made over a ten-year period and debuted at the 1998 Rotterdam film festival.[4] The film was officially released in 2001 and was fully authorized by Ballard who has since called the film “a poetic masterpiece.”[5] In 2005, an extensive version of the film was released through Reel 23 and the Dutch DVD label Filmfreak Distributie. The DVD release contains audio commentary provided by both Weiss and Ballard.[6]
