From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Joovv is an American company that manufactures photobiomodulation (low-level laser therapy) devices. It was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2016 and is headquartered in California.[1]

History[edit]

Joovv was co-founded by two couples, Elizabeth and Scott Nelson, and Justin and Melissa Strahan. In interviews, the co-founders have said that Joovv grew out of their desire to have spa-quality light therapy treatments in their homes, which was not available.[2]

Products[edit]

Joovv’s products are meant for in-home use, and use LED light bulbs to deliver concentrated natural light wavelengths. The devices are registered with the FDA as class II medical devices for the treatment of pain, strain, and inflammation.[3]

Professional athletes like hockey player Duncan Ketih and surfer John John Florence have spoken about using Joovv for training.[4] [5]

Medical Advisory Board[edit]

Joovv has a scientific advisory board that includes Michael R. Hamblin, PhD, Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School.[6] Co-Founders Scott Nelson and Justin Strahan and Joovv Scientific Advisory board member Michael R. Hamblin, PhD co-authored a scientific article about Photobiomodulation and Cancer in 2018.[7]

Studies[edit]

As of 2019, the company has partnered with other medical companies to conduct clinical research.[8]
