Jor Martirosyan (Armenian: Ժոր Մարտիրոսյան, born 2 April 1995 ) is a UN certified professional blogger, video blogger, social media influencer and a tour guide who became popular by creating vlogs about Armenia on Facebook under the page “Made in Armenia”. In 2019 he became the first blogger from Armenia to be certified by the United Nations.

Early life and Education: ====

Jor was born in Garni, Armenia, to a Christian family with an elder brother and sister. His great-grand parents were from Mako, Iran. His native language is Armenian, he also speaks fluent English, as well as Russian, German, French and Turkish. After finishing the primary school of Garni, he went to the Yerevan State Collage of Humanities at the age of 15, seeking a degree of translator and service manager. Later he continued his study at the Geography department of Yerevan State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Tourist Service specialist. For a couple of years he worked at the Sport and Cultural center of Garni as an event organized, also at tourist information center. He also worked with “Zangi Messenger” as a social media promoter. Now apart from being a social media influencer, he works as a tour guide as well.

“Made in Armenia” is a Facebook page created by Jor Martirosyan back in Oct, 2011 which is considered to be one of the most popular pages in Armenia nowadays. The main goal of the page is to present the history, culture and heritage of Armenia to not only local and diaspora Armenians but also to foreigners from all over the world. On the page visitors have the opportunity to follow the latest news of Armenia, admire beautiful photos of the country and also watch interesting videos about the unseen side of majestic Armenia. Till date the page has more than 1,700,00 followers from all over the world e.g. Armenia, Russia, USA, Lebanon, France, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Greece, Turkey etc. The videos posted by the page have been watched for more than 50 million times.

Vlogs: ====

The vlogs of Jor Martirosyan are known as the first in its kind to show the hidden treasures of Armenia and acclaimed internationally by a wide range of audience. Till today Jor has introduced hidden treasures of Armenia in around 20 videos which have been watched more than 3 million times only on Facebook. His most watched video is about the “Dead Sea of Yerevan” which went viral with around 500K views in just a couple of days. Jor is also known for showing most of the festivals happening in Armenia in his own style, such as “The Wine days of Yerevan”, “The Tolma Festival”, “Vardavar Water Festival”, “Areni Wine Festival”, “International Air Balloon Festival” etc. He is also focused to present the unseen sides of Armenia and introduce them to the public and some bright examples are “The mysterious building of Areni”, “The Devil’s bridge”, “The Salt mine of Yerevan” and so on. The vlogs are shot in English or Armenian depending upon the topic of the video. He works with his British Friend George S. Earl who is also the official website developer of Made in Armenia and the script-writer for the English vlogs. The average length of the videos is around 3 mins.

Achievements: ====

Within one year of working as a social-media influencer Jor Martirosyan managed to accomplish a lot of success in blogging. In November, 2019 he became the first Armenian blogger to be certified and recognized by the United Nations after taking part at the “Social Media Influencers Programme for West Asian countries 2019-2020” by the United Nations Business Forum. Being a successful blogger he was also invited to take part in various projects such as the “EduVanHub” by “GarageErasmusYerevan” sharing his blogging knowledge and experience with the kids in the rural areas of Armenia, Lori and Shirak provinces. Later in October, 2019 for the same project he was invited to do social media and blogging workshops in a countries like Georgia, Russia, Ukraine etc. In July 2019, he gave his first official interview about his video-blogging activity for the Public Radio of Armenia. Jor was also invited to give a speech at the “French Armenian University” and “Armenian-Slavonic University”. In November 2019, Jor travelled to Turkey to make videos about the Armenian community in Istanbul, Turkey, but for the sake of his own and their security he gave up the idea of shooting the vlogs.
