Jorge Enrique Costa Rogers (1870 – 19 August 1918) was a Chilean lawyer and politician who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile.

A member of the Liberal Party, Costa represented La Victoria and Melipilla from 1912 to 1915. He served as second vice president of the Chamber from 2 June 1914.[1]

During his term, he was a member of the Permanent Commissions of Public Instruction and Elections, and served as a substitute member of the Permanent Commission of Legislation and Justice.[1]

Biography

Costa was born in Santiago in 1870, the son of Lucrecio E. Costa Gómez and Sara Rogers Barazarte. He studied at Roberto Radford's English School and later studied law at the University of Chile, qualifying as a lawyer on 31 December 1890.[1]

He entered public service at the age of sixteen as an official of the General Directorate of Accounting. In 1892, he was appointed public notary and registrar of real estate in Melipilla, serving until 1901, when he became a Procurador del Número in Santiago.[1]

Costa was a member of the Executive Board of the Liberal Party and was elected president of the Liberal Club in 1912, remaining in office until his resignation in October 1913. That year, he also participated in a parliamentary commission sent to Tarapacá and Antofagasta to investigate the administrative, industrial, economic and social conditions of Chile's northern provinces.[1]
