Jose Sanchez (born June 23, 1984) is an actor and musician from Chicago, Illinois.

Biography

Jose Sanchez is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent and born in Chicago, Illinois in 1984 but grew up in Cicero, Illinois, where he graduated in 2002 from J. Sterling Morton East High School.

Music

He began taking guitar lessons at age 10 at the International School of Music in Cicero, Illinois. In 1998, he competed and won his first state championship in guitar from the Illinois Music Association competition then won his second in 1999. He performed in talent shows at J. Sterling Morton East High School's historic Chodl Auditorium in 2002 and 2005.

While in high school, he began his own band called Self Infliction and then formed The Evening Funeral[1] soon after.

July 23, 2005, he was a guest artist where he provided live guitar work for a song for the Code of the Cutz stage, directed by Jaime Wilkins/ADDVERSE out of East Lansing, Michigan, during the annual Warped Tour at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater (formerly Tweeter Center) in Tinley Park, Illinois. Acts included his cousin DJ/Beatboxer/Photographer Jam One, Natives of the New Dawn, Verbal Kent, Psalm One, Hangar 18, Arcane, Longshot, Glue, Josh Martinez and Sleep are The Chicharones, and others.[2]

Blue Man Group casting and training manager Tascha van Auken recruited him to audition for the Blue Man Group band as a guitarist in October 2007. The band, which accompanies the Blue Man Group, wear brightly colored paint during performances in a caged platform above the stage in Chicago's Briar Street Theater.

He began his acting career as Cesar in the independent film "Closer" (2011), where principle filming took place in the Chicago neighborhood of Pilsen. Jose was a last-minute replacement for the role and it was his debut into acting.

Then he was in a music video for Chicago band Burning Eve for their single titled "Embrace" (2012),[3][4] where he played a warden for a psych ward.

Personal

He holds two degrees from Ashford University in Psychology[5] and Human Resources Management[6] with a 3.39 GPA and works as a Mental Health Counselor for adult behavioral patients in a hospital located in the Humboldt Park, Chicago community. Also attended The Second City in Chicago for acting. Married to Chicago jewelry designer and published artist Kat Wisniewski in 2012. They have no children.
