Jose A. Gonzalez was an American Independent Catholic priest with the American Catholic Church in the United States.
His necrology in the ACCUS reads: "He came to the American Catholic Church in the United States (ACCUS) from St. Catherine of Siena Church, which was under the pastoral care of Fr. Leonard Falcon. At the time Fr. Leonard came to the ACCUS from Bishop Joseph Finnegan who was in the area. After some issues with Fr. Leonard, who then went with back to Bishop Joseph; Jose chose to remain with the ACCUS. He was accepted into Candidacy on March 4, 2015. Jose was ordained to the Diaconate by Archbishop Lawrence Harms on November 11, 2005 and was given custody of St. Catherine of Siena parish. On November 15, 2008, Deacon Jose was ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Lawrence Harms, and he was then named Pastor of St. Catherine's, remaining so until his death on June 7, 2015 in Tallahassee, FL. Fr. Jose was an extremely loyal individual, even when Bishop Finnegan and Fr. Leo tried to persuade him to leave the ACCUS; or when Mr. Gerald Miller falsely accused Archbishop Lawrence Harms of not being validly ordained as a Priest or Bishop; Fr. Jose remained faithful committed to his Archbishop and the ACCUS. He was very loving and caring to those whom he ministered. You could always count on him to help where he could. Fr. Jose would travel by any means affordable to ACCUS functions until his health began to decline. One of his greatest adventures was taking a bus from Tallahassee, FL to Bellingham, WA to attend an ordination, and then taking the bus back home. He was exceptionally generous, giving all he could even when he did not have much to give! Fr. Jose was very sensitive, always concerned for the feelings of others. He spent the last years of his life married to Shawn Fulton. They were married by Archbishop Lawrence Harms in an evening celebration in the Archbishop’s Chapel in Frederick, Maryland on October 9, 2010."
