Joseph William Allgood (born January 1922[1]) is the former vice-chairman and director of Cartier.[2][3] He was succeeded by Arnaud Bamberger in 1993.[4]

Career

Prior to Cartier, Allgood served as a Gunner in the Royal Artillery.[5] He subsequently joined Cartier, becoming vice chairman and eventually managing director from 1991 to 1993.[6] While vice-chairman of Cartier, Allgood appeared on Wogan in 1990 with guests Donald Trump, his wife Ivana Zelníčková, and Dame Edna Everage.[7] In July 1981, three armed robbers broke into Cartier on New Bond Street, London, fleeing with approximately £2 million in 1981 (equivalent to £7.5 million in 2016). Two guards were seriously injured in the process.[8] During Allgood's tenure at Cartier, the Joseph Allgood Cartier Assistants' Tournament was held annually, most notably won by professional golfer Colin Gillies at Gleddoch.[9]
