Joseph Maenza
Joseph Maenza (born February 2, 1964) is a US-based attorney and media executive residing in Miami, Florida. He specializes in monetizing entertainment assets and holds experience of two decades in finance, encompassing accomplishments in sports, music, print media, fashion, and television. Maenza is the founder and managing member of Maenza Enterprises LLC, a limited liability company based in Miami Beach, Florida.[1][2]
Education
Maenza achieved his degree in Law from the University of Illinois.[1]
Career
Joseph Maenza pursued his interest in entertainment, initially in sports, and during that period, he represented over a hundred top athletes, as both an agent and a business manager. Some of the athletes that he represented include former boxing Middle Weight Champion Tommy Hearns, the Kronk Gym, Emanuel Steward, Hector Camacho and heavyweight champion of the world Michael Moorer, MVP Tim Raines, Jesse Barfield, and Oswaldo José Guillén.[3][4] Guillén was the first Latino to manage a World Series Baseball Team.
Maenza settled in Miami, branching out into music and the publishing business. Seeing Hip Hop’s growing influence on sales and culture, Maenza began representing many Hip Hop artists such as Heavy D, Al B Sure!, Guy, KC and JOJO, and Mary J Blige including their label, Uptown Records. He signed the group Will-To-Power, who recorded two chart-topping dance hits, “Say It's Gonna Rain”, and “Fading Away”. Will-To-Power also recorded a number one pop song "Baby I Love Your Way/Freebird Medly".
Joseph Maenza was instrumental in the success of the female super-group “Expose”. The trio was one of the biggest acts in music, becoming the first group to have four top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart from a debut album. “Expose" went on to reach the top of the charts with “Seasons Change” while selling multi-gold and platinum CDs.
Maenza launched several fashion magazines as Hollywood began to embrace Miami’s desirable Latin talent and culture. He was an investor and Publishing Director of the award-winning fashion magazine, “Zink” based in New York. Soon after, Joseph began to produce “Latin Super Model Search”, a live television event broadcasted throughout Latin America on Univision, Telemundo, and Caracol Television. It was during that time that Maenza reached out to Alonzo Brown, the Emmy Award-winning producer of Judge Mathis, with a story idea about a Latina Hip Hop dancer. Maenza and Brown developed this story together for Universal’s Motion Picture, “Honey”, which made a gross business of over $60 million worldwide.
Maenza became a board member for “USA Radio” broadcast group. It was broadcasted on stations with a combined reach of over a hundred million people. The USA-based Channel is now amongst the largest broadcasters of news radio in the country.
Production
Maenza is an Executive Producer of a short film, “Lines”, and a Co-executive Producer of a music-steered reality TV show, "In the Mix."[5], He was also the Business Manager of this show in 2012.[6]
