Laoye Jaiyeola fondly called JOJ is a Nigerian Economist who is currently the CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.[1]

The NESG led by JOJ[2][3] charges the reform of the Nigerian economy through its annually conceived Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) bringing public sector officials and leaders of the private sector together to discuss the Nigerian economy's future.[4][5]

JOJ worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria for more than fifteen years, and participated as a member of the CBN's Monetary Policy Committee. He was appointed President/Chairman of the council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria[6] (CIBN) from 2010 - 2012.

His contribution as policy expert with the Policy Center for the New South, Morocco[7] in Atlantic dialogues for Africa and Macro economic regulations[8][9] birth the set up of policy think tanks and initiatives such as the Policy Innovation Centre, a wing of the NESG which was funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation[10]

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Scotland; and a Fellow of the Senior Executive Program at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.[11]

He sits as the Chairman[12] of Kainos Edge Consulting Ltd.

Career[edit]

With over thirty-five years of banking, financial industry experience, and board Leadership,[13] JOJ began his corporate career working with the Central Bank of Nigeria for over fifteen years and later joined Kakawa Discount House Limited[14]now FBNQuest Merchant Bank[15] in 1995. After ten years of service, he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Kakawa a position he held for about a decade. In 2015, he was appointed as CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.[16]

As Chairman/Co-founder of Kainos Edge Consulting Ltd, JOJ leads the firm’s Board of Directors.[17]

He is the Co-Chair[18] of the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria and founder of Hillside University of Science and Technology, Okemesi - Ekiti, HUST.

JOJ holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University and bagged a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Bangor University, Wales, United Kingdom

He is married to Mrs. Soledemi Olutoyin Jaiyeola and blessed with three children.
