Introduction
Joseph Tito (born 14 November 1979) is an Italian-Canadian content designer, an author and media producer best known as the founder of The Dad Diaries, a digital platform of his experiences as a gay father through surrogacy. Joseph is also the editor-in-chief of Between the Covers Magazine, and had also worked in film production and television. Most of his works are anchored on the themes of contemporary fatherhood, family diversity, and the media coverage.
Early Life and Education
Joseph was born in Rome, Italy. His father is Italian and his mother is Canadian. At the age of six, he relocated with his family to Toronto, Ontario. His first article 'It Feels Like a Movie: Return of Single Father of Twin Girls to Surrogacy Ordeal' was published in 2019 on CBC News. It gives a version of his experiences in returning to Canada with his daughters. The article was made public on 9 January 2019 and accessed on 14 October 2025.[1]
Personal Life
Joseph Tito is the husband of Frank who has twin daughters, Stella and Mia and reside in a town called King City, Ontario.[2] His work is also often grounded standing on the back of his Italian-Canadian roots and as an 'out of the closet gay parent'. Joseph has been a writer, producer and crusader of media inclusion of families.[3]
Career Path
Joseph Tito founded JEO Productions based on media of media, which is a documentary and reality . He was a distributor and manufacturer of works by this company in Europe, Middle East and North America.
Joseph began capturing the experience of gestational surrogacy and fatherhood to his digital media and narratives in his late thirties. In 2018, he experienced legal trouble, when the Canadian citizenship act, which restricts passing citizenship to children born outside the country, led to the American-born daughter of the Canadian-citizen father being born in Kenya.[4] His story was featured on the national news channels and the society was talking about issues on family inclusivity and the Canadian citizenship policies. He participated in the movements to gave family rights and surrogacy reform, and focused on establishing equal rights for homosexual individuals.
Literary Magazine
The Dad Diaries [5] is a multimedia brand that Joseph started in 2018 as a personal blog; later it has expanded to include a YouTube channel, Instagram platform, podcast, and written essays. In February 2021, he was added to the surrogacy awareness campaign of ConceiveAbilities.[6] The Dad Diaries counted over 130,000 social media followers in 2025, and in Feedspot[7], it made the list of Top 25 Canadian dad influencers. Joseph, in his contribution, endeavors to popularize various typologies of the family formation and to advance gay fatherhood into the mainstream parenting discourse.
Writing and Publishing
Joseph launched an independent publisher company, which is called JEO Publishing, to support the emerging writers and voices. He is also the sitting Editor-in-Chief of Between the Covers Magazine which is a literary and arts magazine that is concerned with narration and imagination.

The Dad Diaries: Because Real Risks Are Worth Taking (2026): His upcoming memoir will be published by Cormorant Books.[9] His emotional and personal growth as a father navigating surrogacy and modern parenthood is the main focus of the memoir.
