Joshua Cavallo is an Australian football (soccer) player currently signed with Western United FC in the A-League. A versatile midfielder, Cavallo can play as a box-to-box, holding midfielder or attacking midfielder.

Club career

Melbourne City Youth

Cavallo was named in City's inaugural youth squad in the National Premier Leagues Victoria in August 2017 making a total of 72 appearances for the National Premier Leagues Victoria youth side from the 2017-19 seasons. [1] Cavallo soon later was named Melbourne City Y-League Player of the Year for his form through the 2017-18 campaign.[2] Cavallo's following Y-League season continued his form and followed another very successful campaign in the National Youth League having the highest assist tally (8 assists in 7 games) in 2018-19 season.

Melbourne City

Cavallo made his official debut for Melbourne City in the Toyota Yarris La Liga World Tournament against Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters and caught the eye of Kerala and City fans in an impressive, stellar performance. He played a significant role to finish a 6-0 entertaining thrashing thriller against the Kerala Blasters.[3]

Western United

After an impressing stunt for Melbourne City FC NPL side in the National Premier Leagues Victoria, Western United FC showed strong interest in Cavallo, signing the Australia national under-20 soccer team midfielder on a two-year professional deal on 14 April 2019.[4][5]

International career

In October 2018, Cavallo was called up to the Australia U20 squad to compete in the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship held in Indonesia.[6]
