Joshua Inwood
Joshua Inwood is an Associate Professor of Geography and the Rock Ethics Institute at the Pennsylvania State University.[1] Inwood is a cultural and urban geographer whose works spans the intersections of landscape studies, critical race theory and whiteness studies. He received a BA degree in History and Geography from Michigan State University in 2000. He went on to earn an MA degree in Geography from Kent State University and a PhD from the University of Georgia in 2007[2]. His dissertation work looked at the redevelopment of the Auburn Avenue community in Atlanta, Georgia and focused on competing redevelopment visions in the city and the way those development visions were reflective of dominant political ideologies in the city[3]. In 2010 he was awarded a National Science Foundation grant that focused on the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission and efforts to address histories of race and violence in the city[4]. Inwood began his career at Auburn University before moving on the the University of Tennessee and Pennsylvania State University. In addition, he has been featured in national and international news outlets and his work has been published in top-ranked geography journals[5].
