Jossart Island is an island in Minocqua Lake, Oneida County, Wisconsin, United States.

History

Jossart Island was named by Belgian and Walloon immigrants to Wisconsin in the late 19th century.[2]

Geography

The shoreline of the island is 90 percent wooded, and a boathouse is located on the island.[3] Vegetation on the island and nearby waters includes rush, spatterdock, northern water-milfoil, white waterlily, muskgrass, and pondweed.[3] The island "offers a biological buffer zone where the establishment of existing vegetation reduces the likelihood of an exotic invasion."[3] The basin south of the island is a fish and wildlife habitat.[3]
