The Journal of Applied Mechanics Award is issued by the Applied Mechanics Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers to honor the best paper published in the Journal of Applied Mechanics [1] in each past two year before award presentation. And this award has become a stepping stone for the young investigator awards for mechanicians, such as Thomas Hughes Medal [2] from ASME, Young Investigator Medal of Society of Engineering Sciences[3], Eshelby Mechanics Award for Young Faculty, and Sia Nemet-Nasser Medal [4] of ASME.

- 2017: Yihui Zhang (Tsinghua University) 2;
- 2018: Charles Wojnar (Missouri University of Science and Technology);
The JAM award recipients are also receivers of other medals, which have been indicated by numbers.
