Jordan Rondelli, better known online as JOYCA (formerly known as YouTunes; born on 7 August 1995) in Grenoble, is a French YouTuber and musician. Since 2016, he has posted videos on his YouTube channel, and is mainly known for posting remixes and parodies. His fame is growing, and as of August 2021, his channel has more than 4.4 million subscribers. At the same time, he has other activities, especially in music, by publishing several singles since 2018, some featuring Amixem, Squeezie and Boostee.

Biography

JOYCA was born Jordan Rondelli in Grenoble, on 7 August 1995.[1]

Early life

Influenced by his two sisters who listened to a lot of techno from the 1990s, the young Jordan Rondelli found a passion for the stage, and more generally for music.[2] He was passionate about music from his youth, and learned piano, guitar and drums. Later he became a DJ and beatmaker.[3] He stopped his studies at the age of 16 to focus definitively on music.[4]

At the age of ten, he featured in a short film called Tremblez, tyrans!, in which he played Henry Brulard, the protagonist.[5][6]

YouTube debut

On May 24, 2016, he created his YouTube channel named "YouTunes", and posted his first video, which is a remix of a speech by Manuel Valls, using autotune to modify the voice of the politician.[7] The videos he released later were remixes of famous videographers, like Cyprien, with the video WILLIAM EST GENTIL that Cyprien later retweeted, and Squeezie who later shared the video on his own channel.[8] Only a month after the start of his channel, he reached the milestone of 100,000 subscribers. After being anonymous in the first few videos, Rondelli ended up revealing his face. Apart from his remixes and parodies, he has a YouTube series called Faire un beat avec... in which he shows how to make beats with different objects.

Rise to fame

In August 2017, a little over a year after the creation of his channel, the Vidclust site published a ranking of emerging and growing videographers, and positioned Rondelli in first place, just ahead of McFly & Carlito[9]. Parodies posted on his channel like Maquillée (parody of Bazardée of KeBlack ), and especially I'M GONNA SHAG YOU (parody of Despacito by Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee ), are among the most watched in his channel and gave him a huge subscriber boost.[10] At the end of 2017, he made his first collaboration with Boostee, on Le monde de Disney!, where the two pay homage to the Disney films they grew up with, while humorously showing the inconsistencies of the films.[11] At the end of the year, YouTunes' J'vais vous pécho video was the sixth most viewed French video in 2017 (excluding music videos), with more than 7 million views.[12] In parallel, with several other popular YouTubers, Amixem, VodK, Mastu and Neoxi, he joined the RedBox in Angers , where he has an equipped studio that allows him to produce videos and music more easily.[13][14][15][16][17] Rondelli is very attached to the animal cause; in January 2018, JOYCA stood out by mobilizing to support the recently vandalized Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA), by donating to the volunteers of the organization and to its residents, and he said he would continue this in the future via his YouTube channel and Twitter account to raise awareness about shelters for lost animals.

First official singles

Having never hidden his desire to make more “serious” videos and music to make hits, Rondelli made the decision in March 2018 to change the name of his channel from YouTunes to JOYCA[18], which seemed to him more appropriate. While still making humorous videos, JOYCA released his first official single, High on April 22, 2018, with a music video directed by Kick Sama. [19] The pseudonym JOYCA comes from JO (for Jordan, his first name), Y (for YouTunes) because this is what marked his popularity and therefore the Y is in the center, and CA (for the English word cat, in reference to his love of cats).

After the death of the world famous DJ Avicii, JOYCA paid tribute to him with a new single, very influenced by the style of Avicii called Heart and Soul, and performed again in collaboration with singer Boostee.[20][21] The clip this time is designed by MyFuckinMess. JOYCA is the composer of the music, while Boostee is the interpreter; the theme of the song is not explicit and leaves many and different interpretations, nevertheless, it explains that it is necessary to continue to fight no matter what.

In June 2019 he participated in a video of Squeezie, where they jointly compose a summer hit in 3 days, Bye Bye, in competition with Kezah and Freddy Gladieux, who compose the song Mirador with the same constraints. They were then judged by the singer/rapper Gims who designates Mirador as the winner.[22] The two singles have had some success, going so far as to be performed live during the Solidays 2019 music festival by their authors.[23] They were also broadcast in several nightclubs and on national radios such as Fun Radio.[24] The two singles are classified in the sales charts of several musical platforms[25] and the title Mirador will even be officially certified gold record .

On September 18, 2019, he created the YouTube channel Des Cuts & Des Zooms with Amixem. The channel doesn't really have a main theme; the two YouTubers post videos on different themes like cooking and music.
