Juan Nepomuceno Flores (November 7, 1811 – December 2, 1878) was instrumental in organizing and commanding Texian volunteers in support of the Texas Revolution. Flores also served as a soldier in the Texas Army during the Texas Revolution, and was noted for heroic actions during the Siege of Béxar and during the Battle of San Jacinto that helped to seal the decisive Texian victory and additionally the town of Floresville, Texas is named for Flores. Therefore Juan Nepomuceno Flores is a historically, culturally, and ethnically significant Texan of hispanic descent.

Early years[edit]
Born in San Antonio De Bejar on November 7, 1811, he was the son of Antonio Flores De Abrego and his mother Maria Antonia Rodriguez both descendants of the original Canary Islander Settlers. Juan Nepomenco Flores married Margareta Josepha Valdez and moved to the Floresville area where they had 3 children.
Military Service[edit]
Juan Nepomenco Flores participated in the Siege of Bexar in 1835 then served as a Corporal in Juan Seguín's company from October 4, 1836 to October 14, 1837. He participated in the Battle of San Jacinto on April 31, 1836 and continued to serve in the Texas Volunteers for two years after.
Aftermath[edit]
Juan Nepomenco Flores returned to live in the Floresville, Texas area and the town is named for one of his descendants. He died there on December 2, 1878 and is buried somewhere on his family land.
Representation in Film[edit]
Flores brother Manuel N. Flores was a leading character played by the actor Gerardo Taracena in the recent miniseries Texas Rising
