Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is a forthcoming TV series that was announced as in development on 10 May 2017.

On May 10 2017, Entertainment Weekly announced that independent entertainment studio IM Global and Rebellion Developments have partnered to develop a live-action TV show called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.[1]

IM Global, with DNA Films, Lionsgate, Reliance BIG Pictures, IMAX and Entertainment Film Distributors, had previously produced the film Dredd. Rebellion are owners of 2000 AD and copyright-holders of Judge Dredd.

It is currently in development by producers Brian Jenkins and Jason Kingsley and so, as of 10 July 2017 scripts have not been written and actors have not been cast[2].

Format and content[edit]

The population of Mega-City One in the TV series is advertised as "four hundred million citizens" (the population in the comic has varied between 800 and 50 million citizens).[3]

The show is planned to be an ensemble drama about a team of Judges as they deal with the challenges of the future-shocked 22nd century and how they develop.[4][5]

It is planned to consist of thirteen episodes and will feature live actors and sets, with CGI.[2]

The character Judge Dredd will appear heavily, though the series will not be exclusively about the character.[2]
