The Judicial Academy (JA; Vietnamese: Học viện Tư pháp Việt Nam) is a public postgraduate academy and scientific research institution in Vietnam. Operating directly under the Ministry of Justice, the academy specializes in training and professional development for judicial titles and legal professionals in Vietnam.[1]
History
The Judicial Academy of Vietnam was established on February 25, 2004, under Decision No. 23/2004/QD-TTg signed by the Prime Minister of Vietnam. The academy is structured as a public service delivery unit with legal status, its own seal bearing the national emblem, separate financial accounts, and is headquartered in Hanoi with a branch campus in Ho Chi Minh City.[2]
On September 30, 2022, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 1155/QD-TTg, approving the development scheme titled "Continuing to build the Judicial Academy into a major center for training judicial titles."[3]
Functions
- Providing professional skills training for prospective judges, prosecutors, lawyers, civil judgment executors, notaries public, and other judicial officers.
- Delivering advanced and refresher courses to improve professional qualifications for civil judgment executors, notaries public, lawyers, and other judicial practitioners managed under the authority of the Ministry of Justice; providing legal knowledge courses for public demand.
- Conducting legal and scientific research to support and improve the quality of training judicial officers.
- Engaging in domestic and international cooperation with organizations and individuals in academic training, professional development, and scientific research.
Academic Departments
The academy is organized into four main training departments:
- Faculty of Joint Training for Judges, Prosecutors, and Lawyers (Khoa Đào tạo chung nguồn Thẩm phán, Kiểm sát viên, Luật sư)
- Faculty of Attorney Training (Khoa Đào tạo Luật sư)
- Faculty of Civil Judgment Executor Training (Khoa Đào tạo Các chức danh thi hành án dân sự)
- Faculty of Notary and Other Judicial Professional Training (Khoa Đào tạo Công chứng viên và các chức danh khác)
