Early life[edit]

Japhet Nanthambwe Manda better known as Juff Manda was born in Mogale City, Gauteng. Juff attended Lewisham Primary School and attended Krugersdorp High School for his secondary education. He developed a love for drawing, writing and Graphic Design while at Krugersdorp High School, which led him to Tshwane University of Technology to acquire a qualification in Graphic Design. This was short-lived and in his second year he was forced to drop out due to the lack of funds.[1]

Career[edit]

He was determined to still become a Graphic Designer and decided to start his own design company in 2015 called Juffography. the business was not turning a profit but his efforts did not go unseen he was noticed by a woman named Steph Houslay who saw that he had great potential and took him on for a Learnership in the Advertising industry.

He managed to exceed expectations and was taken on as an intern at Publicis Machine to be later be offered a job as Junior Art Director which he declined due to the mistreatment he had received from the company where they paid him in Jungle Oats. He then moved to Cape Town to work as Art Director for Wynberg Boys' High School after a year he returned to Gauteng and started working for the Democratic Alliance as the National By-elections Graphic Designer and later left to work for Huawei, He is currently working there as Senior Trainer that handle all the creative collateral for the Retail Department, this includes music.[2]

Music Career[edit]

He started writing music during his time at Publicis Machine to cope with depression, When he moved to Cape Town he shared some of that music with a friend called Mthandazo Mweli, who encouraged him to pursue music and he finally followed through once he started working at Huawei as it was a job requirement and he was fond of music as it was his outlet to express himself. Juff has recently released two singles, "Again and Again"[3] and "For the Culture"[4] which are going to form part of his Debut EP "July 10th".
